The Lede, live newsroom front-page debate, Toronto Reference Library

Toronto Public Library – Toronto Reference Library

On Tuesday 27 October the Toronto Reference Library on Yonge Street hosts The Lede, a special event for Media Literacy Week created with the Canadian Journalism Foundation. Three journalists from The Globe and Mail, the national newspaper, each pitch the story they think deserves the lead position on tomorrow's front page: Robyn Doolittle, the deputy head of investigations, Ryan MacDonald, the politics and economy editor, and Solana Cain, the senior visuals editor. Editor-in-chief David Walmsley questions their assumptions and makes the final call live, and the audience takes part rather than only watching. The aim is to show how editors weigh impact, timeliness, public interest and relevance under pressure. The event is held in the Appel Salon, on the second floor. Booking is done through Eventbrite. It starts at 19:00 and ends at 20:00. The language is English. «The Lede: A Live Editorial Meeting Experience» Starts 19:00, ends about 20:00. Source: Toronto Public Library events.
