Going alone: a few tips
Community celebrations usually welcome visitors, and many temples and associations say so on their pages. Arrive a little early, follow the hosts’ lead on shoes, dress and where to sit, and ask before taking photos of people or of the puja. Sweets (mithai) are a nice gift if you are invited into a home. If you are not sure what to do, ask a volunteer. People are usually glad to explain.
