On Tuesday 3 November 2026 at 19:00 the Montehermoso cultural centre on Calle Fray Zacarías Martínez in Vitoria-Gasteiz screens Un poeta, a film in its Zinema Gaur 2026 cycle. Directed by Simón Mesa Soto, the Colombian drama follows Óscar Restrepo, an ageing and erratic man whose obsession with poetry has brought him no glory. Meeting Yurlady, a teenager from a humble background, and helping her develop her talent brings some light into his days, though drawing her into the world of poetry may not be the right path. Classics book club on the Nibelungenlied, Aldecoa House, Vitoria

Casa de Cultura Ignacio Aldecoa

On Saturday 14 November the Ignacio Aldecoa culture house in Vitoria-Gasteiz holds the November session of its classics reading club for 2026-27. The club ranges over literary movements from different periods and countries, with the sessions led by Leire Ibáñez de Gauna and always held on Saturdays at 11:00 in the Cervera room. This month's book is the Nibelungenlied, in a Spanish prose version, which the listing presents as one of the great works of world epic and the only surviving heroic epic from the age of the Staufer dynasty. The poem has thirty-nine cantos in two narrative cores, the story of Siegfried and the revenge of Kriemhild. Participation is free and the working language is Spanish. The listing gives no end time, so we assume the session finishes around 12:30. Book club on Yellowface at Casa de Cultura Aldecoa, Vitoria-Gasteiz

Casa de Cultura Ignacio Aldecoa

On Tuesday 24 November 2026 the Casa de Cultura Ignacio Aldecoa in Vitoria-Gasteiz holds a session of its reading club on American literatures, 2026-2027, discussing Amarilla, the Spanish edition of Yellowface by R.F. Kuang. The listing says the house offers a wide range of reading clubs led by experts who encourage and moderate the sessions, where people share experiences and impressions of the books. This club explores another history of the United States and the stories of other Americans, through works by authors from groups considered minorities for their ethnocultural characteristics, such as Native American, Chicano, African American or Asian American writers. The club is led by Amaia Ibarraran and meets at seven in the evening in the Amaritu room. The language is Spanish and entry is free. A book club is an easy night to join alone, because everyone arrives with the same book. The end time is estimated. «Club de lectura de literaturas estadounidenses (2026-2027): "Amarilla" (R.F. History talk on free people of colour, Departmental Archives, Nantes

Archives Départementales

The departmental archives of Loire-Atlantique, in the centre of Nantes, host a history lecture on a Thursday evening about the so-called free people of colour who lived in the city in the eighteenth century. Nantes was the main French slave-trading port, and the talk uses a royal declaration of 1777, which ordered a census of Black, mixed-race and other people of colour, as a way into the subject. Some of those counted were free, though how many is hard to establish. Starting from a handful of well-documented personal journeys, the speakers, a university lecturer in early modern history, Bernard Michon, and a master's student, Garance Niget, retrace what became of several of them. It is organised with a local archaeological and historical society and lasts one and a half hours. Entry is free, doors open at 17:45, seating is limited and latecomers may not be admitted. «Conférence histoire : Les « libres de couleur » à Nantes au XVIIIe siècle» Starts 18:00, ends about 19:30. Dowland and Friends early music concert, Conservatoire, Nantes

Auditorium Brigitte Engerer

On Saturday 5 December the Auditorium Brigitte Engerer, at 10 rue Pierre Vidal-Naquet in Nantes, hosts a concert called Dowland and Friends by students of the Conservatoire de Nantes. To mark the 400th anniversary of the death of John Dowland, the students of the early music, voice and guitar classes celebrate the English repertoire of the 16th and 17th centuries. Mixing ancient and modern instruments, they perform works by Dowland, Byrd, Bull, Hume and their contemporaries. The listing adds that the project honours improvisation, in a lively dialogue between heritage, creation and transmission, and recalls Dowland, the English Renaissance lutenist and composer, whose melancholy songs such as Flow My Tears marked an era. The concert lasts one hour and is free, but booking is essential, with online ticketing opening a month before. The page is in French. Old building restoration talk, Departmental Archives, Nantes

Archives départementales de Loire-Atlantique

On Tuesday evening 8 December the departmental archives of Loire-Atlantique on rue de Bouillé in Nantes host a talk about a charter of good practice for restoring old buildings in the city. The listing explains that a city's built heritage is the memory of its history, a richness to preserve, improve and pass on, and asks how to reconcile change with tradition and comfort with old stonework. The charter offers some keys to approach those challenges calmly, and the question it raises is who it is for and what it is for. The talk is led by Manuel Fernandez, vice-president of the association Nantes Renaissance. Entry is free, with contact details for the association given for questions. The language is French. It starts at 18:00 and finishes at 19:30, a good fit for anyone who loves old houses. «Une charte des bonnes pratiques de restauration du Bâti ancien à Nantes» Starts 18:00, ends about 19:30. José Antonio Aarnoutse Trío: flamenco meets jazz for €5, Bilbao

Instituto Bertendona

The Mila Musika Haria concert series brings guitarist José Antonio Aarnoutse, a musician from Cartagena of Dutch descent, to the hall of the Instituto Bertendona in central Bilbao. After years in other projects he built a very personal language in which flamenco takes the lead while jazz, classical and world music colour the edges. Film dialogue on Cría cuervos at AZ Azkuna Zentroa, Bilbao

AZ Azkuna Zentroa

On Tuesday 24 November 2026 AZ Azkuna Zentroa in Bilbao holds the November session of Diálogos de cine, linked to the Zinemateka cycle on the filmmakers of the Spanish transition, 1976 to 1984, tales of a country in transformation. This month the conversation centres on Cría cuervos, the 1976 film by Carlos Saura, which uses the story of an affluent Madrid family to offer a critical and symbolic look at Spanish society in the last years of the Franco era. The listing calls it one of the most representative films of the period. Kulturklik lists the price as 3 euros, and the session is in Spanish. The listing gives no end time, so about two hours is assumed. A guided film conversation is a good evening to attend alone, since everyone has just watched or discussed the same film and has plenty to say. «DIÁLOGOS DE CINE. Local bands TROS_18 and SOMAK, Bilborock, Bilbao

Bilborock

On Friday evening 27 November the Bilborock music venue on Muelle de la Merced in Bilbao hosts a double bill of two local groups, TROS_18 and SOMAK. The Kulturklik listing, which takes its information from the city's youth portal Bilbao Gazte, is brief: it only says the bands will play in the Bilborock hall, without describing their style, so this is an evening for people who like to discover young local music rather than follow a famous headliner. Entry is free according to the page. The language is given as mixed, including Basque. The concert starts at 20:00; the source gives no end time, so we assume it ends at about 22:30. The venue is on Muelle de la Merced in the city centre. «TROS_18 + SOMAK» Starts 20:00, ends about 22:30. Source: Kulturklik — Basque Government / Open Data Euskadi (CC BY 4.0).

Mohábbat: contemporary dance about Iran at Teatri di Vita, Bologna

Teatri di Vita - Parco Pierangelo Bertoli

On Tuesday 3 November 2026 at 21:00 the Teatri di Vita theatre in the Parco Pierangelo Bertoli, on the western edge of Bologna, stages Mohábbat, a contemporary dance piece about Iran. The title is a Persian word meaning affection and care. The choreography and direction are by Afshin Varjavandi, performed by three dancers of the INC Innprogress Collective, with a sound edit by Francesco Fiorucci and costumes by Sara Lanzi and the director. The production is supported by Astràgali Teatro and the experimental theatre LaMaMa. The show lasts about fifty minutes, so it fits a weeknight without a late finish. On Wednesday 4 November 2026 at 18:00 the Biblioteca Amilcar Cabral on Via San Mamolo hosts a free talk titled Sulle tracce dei residenti cinesi a Bologna, subtitled flavours, stories, identity. The association Sinomondi presents the results of a survey of Chinese restaurants active in the city, carried out over recent months with student interns. Conversations with restaurant owners gave first-hand biographical details about long-established Chinese residents and about the places where second generations and Chinese-speaking students gather. It is a good fit for a solo visitor who likes to learn something about the city, with an easy opening for questions to the speakers afterwards, and a few restaurants to try on another evening. «Sulle tracce dei residenti cinesi a Bologna» Starts 18:00, ends about 19:30. Sala Modelo

On Thursday 5 November 2026 at 19:00 the Sala Modelo, a cultural hall on Zigordia street in Zarautz on the Basque coast, hosts a poetry recital by the writer Felipe Juaristi titled Eurialdi. The Kulturklik agenda lists the event as free and gives the language as Basque, so it suits readers and listeners who follow Euskara or who simply like to hear the sound of poetry read aloud. The page publishes no more detail about the programme, so treat it as a short evening reading rather than a full show, and expect around an hour. Recitals are among the easiest cultural events to attend alone because the audience comes to listen, and a small town hall tends to be welcoming. Entry is free and no booking is needed, according to the listing, and the page is in French. The event runs from 19:00 to around 23:00, though the end time is approximate, and you can come and go as you like. Bring a sketchbook and pencils, or ask what material is available. Drawing next to strangers is an easy way to be alone in good company, since everyone is looking at the work rather than at each other, and conversation starts naturally over a sketch. «Nuit du dessin» Starts 19:00, ends about 23:00. Poetry book launch, Katakrak bookshop, Pamplona

Katakrak Liburuak

On Wednesday evening 9 December the bookshop Katakrak on Calle Mayor in Pamplona holds the presentation of a poetry collection by the writer Xabier Etxarri, Buscando en las cenizas huellas. The synopsis describes a poem as an intuition, a glimpse of something captured in a sketch of words that sets off another intuition in the reader. The poems, it says, grow from an old rural world hidden in the cracks of time, from solitude and its rituals, from aching music, from wild and serene nature and from endless nostalgia. Entry is free and the language is Spanish. The listing gives no end time, so we assume the evening ends around 20:30. It starts at 19:00. Basque reading club on Punto bobo, Durango library

Biblioteca Bizenta Mogel (Durango)

On Wednesday 10 February at 18:30 the Bizenta Mogel library in Durango holds a session of its Basque-language reading club called Esker onez, led by Leire Bilbao Barruetabeña. The club meets on Wednesdays from October to June for ninety minutes and is for people aged eighteen and over. Its programme invites members to read, in the club's own words, as a way of taking time to be alone, of living imaginary lives and of leaping to another time. The book for this session is Punto bobo by Itxaso Martin, and other titles in the season range from Joxean Artze to Anton Chekhov and Han Kang. The language of the club is Basque. Kulturklik lists it as free, with registration. It starts at 18:30 and ends at about 20:00, a good fit for readers who want to practise Basque while talking about literature. «Club de lectura "Esker onez": "Punto bobo"» Starts 18:30, ends about 20:00. Free Halloween horror double bill at Filmoteca, Zaragoza

Filmoteca de Zaragoza

On Saturday 31 October 2026 at 19:00 the Filmoteca de Zaragoza holds a special Halloween session within its Zaragoza Fear Fest folk-horror programme. The evening is a double bill. First comes Aterrados, an Argentine supernatural horror in which three paranormal investigators try to explain strange events in a Buenos Aires neighbourhood, directed by Demián Rugna. After it comes Trick 'r Treat, a Halloween night in which old traditions have consequences. The listing invites the public to come in costume and bring sweets. Admission is listed as free with no reservation, seating is by order of arrival, and doors open fifteen minutes before the session. Because it is a shared cinema evening rather than a party, it suits someone coming alone, and the festive dress-up gives strangers an easy reason to talk during the break between the two films. «Aterrados. Sesión especial Halloween» Starts 19:00, ends about 22:00. Source: Zaragoza city open data — Agenda (Ayuntamiento de Zaragoza).

Free Modern Baroque concert in San Pablo church, Zaragoza

Iglesia de San Pablo

On Thursday 5 November 2026 at 20:00 the church of San Pablo on Calle San Pablo in Zaragoza's old quarter hosts a concert titled Modern Baroque. It belongs to Música en San Pablo, the 29th edition of a series run by the city council's old-town plan, which uses the church as a calm setting for music. The venue is a UNESCO-listed example of Aragonese Mudéjar architecture, and the organisers say the cycle is meant to bring pause and recollection, with four concerts across November. The listing gives the admission as free. The programme and performers are not detailed on the city page, so check the organiser's leaflet if you want the repertoire. Sitting in a historic nave among strangers, all listening in the same direction, is a quiet way to spend an evening alone in the city. «Modern Baroque» Starts 20:00, ends about 21:00. Pop-up card collection workshop, Fine Arts Museum, Draguignan

Musée des Beaux-Arts de Draguignan

On Saturday afternoon 14 November the Fine Arts Museum in Draguignan, a town in the Var inland from the Côte d'Azur, runs a hands-on workshop called the Sentimental Museum. Taking the museum's own collection as a starting point, participants are invited to design a personal collection of their own. The artists Julien Lemesle and Delphine Puzin guide the session and show how to stage that collection in the form of a pop-up card, a folded paper piece whose scene rises when it is opened. The listing says the workshop is free. It gives no age range, no registration requirement and no list of materials, so it is worth asking the museum if you want to be sure of a place. The language is French. It runs from 14:00 to 16:00, an easy creative afternoon to spend among works of art, alone or with company. «Atelier le musée sentimental» Starts 14:00, ends about 16:00. How it works

Going out without a drink: how it works

  1. Pick your city and an event above; open the official page and check the date, price and booking.
  2. Open Meet & Mint to see who else is going and say hi in the event chat. Not there yet? Tap "+" to add it and gather a group.
  3. Join alone, say hi: every event has its own chat, and each group going together gets its own room.
  4. Order what you like. At any event with a bar, a tea or a soda is a normal order.

Questions people ask

What counts as an alcohol-free friendly event here?

Events where the activity is the point: talks, library socials, walks, board games, crafts, language cafés, daytime events, concerts in churches or libraries, and sport. We leave out anything whose title, description or venue is about drinking, such as bar crawls, tastings or apéros.

Are bars and pubs hidden on Come Alone?

No. This is an extra tag, not a filter. Every pub, bar and tasting stays in the main feed and on every city page; this page only gathers the events where nobody will notice what is in your glass.

Can I be sure an event serves no alcohol?

No. The tag means alcohol is not what the event is about, not that none is sold. Some venues have a bar. Check the official page of the event if it matters to you.
