Monday Night Cinema: «Nino», Pavilion Theatre, Dún Laoghaire

Pavilion Theatre

Pauline Loquès's César-winning first feature follows Nino, who is diagnosed with cancer on the eve of his twenty-ninth birthday and spends the weekend before treatment with friends, family, old acquaintances and strangers. Despite the subject, the film keeps an elegant, light touch and a quietly funny eye on awkward moments, including a birthday party he cannot avoid. In French with English subtitles; the Pavilion Theatre shows it at 5pm and 8pm on Monday. Tickets €10 (€9 concessions) plus booking fee. Rated 15A, with mature themes. «Nino» Starts 17:00, ends about 18:37. Source: Fáilte Ireland open data (CC BY 4.0) and the venue's own listing.

Trad/Folk Dance Session in a Tours Bar

Bar Les misérable

This monthly session opens with an hour-long mini-workshop on one dance and its music, then becomes a free session where musicians and dancers carry on late into the night. Beginners and seasoned dancers are equally welcome and entry is free. Folk dances rotate partners, so arriving alone is no problem at all.

How it works

Going alone to a coffee rave: how it works

Most people at a coffee rave or morning party arrive alone, because the format is built for it: the dancing starts early, the room is bright, and nobody is waiting for the night to get going. Doors usually open between 06:30 and 10:00 and the floor is busiest in the first hour, so arrive on time rather than late. Stand near the DJ or the edge of the dance floor, where people tend to cluster, and the first song is usually the hardest part. Many series add a short warm-up, a stretch or a hello circle, which gives a natural way to start talking. Most of these events are alcohol optional, with coffee, tea or soft drinks as the main offer, and every card shows the alcohol tag taken from the organiser's page.

  1. Pick a format below, open the official page and check the date, age limit and price.
  2. Get a ticket if the page asks for one — many series sell out or run on a sign-up list.
  3. Come alone: wear something you can move in, and bring earplugs and a water bottle.
  4. Meet people in Meet & Mint before or after and plan the next one together.

Questions people ask

What is a coffee rave?

A coffee rave is a dance event held in the morning or daytime where the main drinks are coffee, tea and soft drinks. It runs like a club night, with a DJ and a dance floor, but it starts early and usually ends before noon or in the afternoon.

Can I go to a morning or day party alone?

Yes. Most people at these events arrive alone, and formats such as ecstatic dance, silent discos and sober socials often include a warm-up, a circle or a shared activity that makes it easy to start talking.

Is alcohol served at these events?

It depends on the event, and each card shows the tag taken from the organiser's page: Alcohol-free means the event is alcohol-free or zero-proof, Alcohol optional means drinks are available but not the point, and no tag means the page does not say. This section highlights day, morning and zero-proof formats; it does not replace evening bar and club listings elsewhere on Come Alone.

What are the age limits and prices?

Each card shows the age limit and price as shown on the organiser's page. Many series are 18+, some are all ages or have separate family sessions, and prices range from free to a standard ticket; where a page shows no price the card says so.

How current are these listings?

Each card shows the date we checked it. 0 of 46 rows were seen only in search results because the organiser's page was unreachable; they are labelled unconfirmed, so verify on the organiser's site before you go.
