Free documentary and talk on the Algorta bean feast, Getxo

Romo Kultur Etxea (RKE)

On Wednesday 4 November 2026 at 19:00 the Romo Kultur Etxea, a cultural centre on Santa Eugenia plaza in Getxo, screens a documentary in the town's 2026-2027 documentary cycle, with a discussion after the film. Indabada, mende laurden herria astintzen follows the first 25 editions of the popular bean feast of Algorta, an initiative that, as the listing puts it, has always been much more than a communal meal. It reflects a different model of community life and a project built on shared values passed between generations, and it was made for the event's 25th anniversary by a team of six directors. The agenda lists admission as free. A local documentary followed by a conversation is an easy way to meet neighbours when you come alone, since everyone already shares a topic. «Ciclo documental 2026-2027: "Indabada, mende laurden herria astintzen"» Starts 19:00, ends about 20:30. Author talk: «Dormir fuera de casa» by Paula Hoyos, Algorta, Getxo

Aula de Cultura de Algorta

Paula Hoyos comes to the Aula de Cultura in Algorta, Getxo, to talk about «Dormir fuera de casa», the novella that won the 2025 Ramiro Pinilla Short Novel Prize. A flight from Rome to Barcelona is cancelled and four strangers meet while waiting to board again: a chemistry teacher close to retirement, a disenchanted woman in her thirties, a man in crisis, and a Barcelona native who left for Italy and is returning to sell her house. As they wait they revisit decisions, losses and postponed desires. It is a Thursday-evening literary meeting in Spanish, free to attend, with the author present to talk about how the story came together. Reading the book first is welcome but not required. «Encuentro literario: "Dormir fuera de casa" (Paula Hoyos)» Starts 19:00, ends about 20:15. Poetry and music book night, Romo Culture Hall, Getxo

Aula de Cultura de Romo

On Wednesday evening 9 December the Romo culture hall in Getxo, the seaside municipality near Bilbao, hosts a presentation of the poetry book Cadencias del amor by Isabel Bravo, published by Ediciones Nogal. The listing says the book is built in three parts called Intersección, Incertidumbre and Suplemento, and that it tells a story of searching and meeting guided by the idea that love always returns from a forgotten alpha. It describes the language as careful and evocative and the book as a deep reflection on the rhythms of human relationships, ideal for lovers of Spanish-language poetry. The title of the event promises both poetry and music. Entry is free and the language is Spanish. The listing gives no end time, so we assume it ends around 20:30. It starts at 19:00. «Presentación poético-musical del libro "Cadencias del amor"» Starts 19:00, ends about 20:30. Source: Kulturklik — Basque Government / Open Data Euskadi (CC BY 4.0).

Lucia Joyce dance-theatre, Utopian, Getxo

Utopian

On Saturday evening 19 December the Utopian venue in Getxo, on the coast north of Bilbao, stages a dance-theatre piece by the company Karlik Danza Teatro about Lucia Joyce, the daughter of James Joyce. The work imagines a letter written on the last day of her life, in which she looks back on her past, her great love Samuel Beckett and her analyst Carl Jung, and offers it as an act of love for dance and freedom. The Kulturklik page notes that she studied dance, took part in a ballet by Léger and Man Ray, and lived in the shadow of a gifted and troubled family. Tickets cost 14 euros with an online sales link. The performance starts at 20:00; the source gives no end time, so we assume about 21:15. The venue is in the Errotatxu industrial estate. «LUCIA JOYCE. UN PEQUEÑO DRAMA EN MOVIMIENTO» Starts 20:00, ends about 21:15. Source: Kulturklik — Basque Government / Open Data Euskadi (CC BY 4.0).
