Pop-up card collection workshop, Fine Arts Museum, Draguignan

Musée des Beaux-Arts de Draguignan

On Saturday afternoon 14 November the Fine Arts Museum in Draguignan, a town in the Var inland from the Côte d'Azur, runs a hands-on workshop called the Sentimental Museum. Taking the museum's own collection as a starting point, participants are invited to design a personal collection of their own. The artists Julien Lemesle and Delphine Puzin guide the session and show how to stage that collection in the form of a pop-up card, a folded paper piece whose scene rises when it is opened. The listing says the workshop is free. It gives no age range, no registration requirement and no list of materials, so it is worth asking the museum if you want to be sure of a place. The language is French. It runs from 14:00 to 16:00, an easy creative afternoon to spend among works of art, alone or with company. «Atelier le musée sentimental» Starts 14:00, ends about 16:00. What Did You Expect?, dance and mentalism duo, Draguignan

Auditorium Pôle culturel Chabran

On Saturday 27 March 2027 the auditorium of the Pôle culturel Chabran, on boulevard Georges Clemenceau in Draguignan, presents What Did You Expect?, by the Austrian choreographer Christian Ubl and the Belgian mentalist Kurt Demey. The listing explains that their partnership began with Garden of Chance, programmed in 2020 and cancelled because of the pandemic. This new duo is described as stripped back and virtuosic, revealing through strange situations and insignificant events the many sides of their identities and stage languages. It brings together Ubl's many-sided choreographic research and Demey's symbolic visual language, illusion techniques and audience interaction, two bodies linked by a perpetual chain of actions and reactions, like a giant game of dominoes or a butterfly effect. The minimum age is 12 and the show lasts about seventy minutes. Tickets cost 13 to 17 euros, and the lowest is used here. A playful show like this is easy to watch alone. «WHAT DID YOU EXPECT ?» Starts 18:00, ends about 19:10. Source: OpenAgenda — THÉÂTRES EN DRACÉNIE (open data).

Le Prix d’un Goncourt, a play about fame and writing, Draguignan

Théâtre de l'Esplanade

On Thursday 15 April 2027 at 19:30 the Théâtre de l'Esplanade, on boulevard Georges Clemenceau in Draguignan, stages Le Prix d'un Goncourt, adapted and directed by the Toulon director Philippe Chuyen from the book by Jean Carrière. In November 1972 Carrière won the Goncourt prize for L'Épervier de Maheux, a huge success sold in millions of copies and translated around the world. The sudden fame hit him like a shock and threw him into a crisis that lasted almost fifteen years. Out of that fall came a remarkable account, told with lucidity and humour, which the play follows from glory to disillusion and back towards writing as a lifeline. Tickets are in the theatre's C band, from 8 to 12 euros, and the show is recommended from age fourteen. It runs about an hour and a quarter, a good fit for a solo evening around the week of World Book Day. «LE PRIX D'UN GONCOURT» Starts 19:30, ends about 20:45. Théâtre de l'Esplanade

On Saturday 17 April the Théâtre de l'Esplanade in Draguignan hosts OTTiLiE [B] & Guest, a musical reading staged during the EntreLivres book festival.
