Jérôme Rouger: Mock Lecture on the Art of Being a Spectator

L'Atelier des arts vivants

Between stand-up and offbeat conference, Jérôme Rouger turns the spotlight on the audience, its habits, rituals and quirks, and hands out absurd or wise advice. It is a playful little sociology of theatregoers, recommended from age 12. Tickets are listed at €7 to €13, and a show about being in the audience is ideal to watch alone.

«Murmures de la forêt»: drawn orchestral concert in Changé

L'Atelier des arts vivants

Forests have inspired some of the repertoire's finest pages, and conductor Chloé Meyzie has picked a path through them for the thirteen players of the Ensemble instrumental de la Mayenne, from Debussy to Prokofiev, with a mischievous faun as guide. On stage with them, illustrator François Soutif paints live, adds light projections and shadow theatre, so the music gets a forest growing around it in real time. Forty-five minutes on a Sunday at five at L'Atelier des arts vivants in Changé, just north of Laval; for everyone from age five, and very much for adults who like a concert with something to look at. Tickets €6 online (billetterie.change53.fr). «Murmures de la forêt – Ensemble instrumental de la Mayenne» Starts 17:00, ends about 17:45. Starting-Block, a match-show about women athletes, Changé

Les Ondines

On Thursday 25 February 2027 the cultural season of Changé presents Starting-Block by the collective Ces Filles-Là at Les Ondines, Place Christian d'Elva, near Laval. The listing calls it a match-show with conquering energy, in which six actresses retrace the struggles of sportswomen who defied a ban. It begins with a whistle and a running clock, and each story is about athletes who fought for their rights, such as running a marathon when it was closed to women or surfing at night because the beaches were forbidden to them by day. The actresses stand facing the audience and tell these stories of transgression and perseverance, in a stadium atmosphere, with a joyful struggle blowing through the stands. The minimum age is 10. Tickets cost between 7 and 13 euros, and the lowest is used here. A lively show like this is an easy evening to attend alone. «Starting-Block – La Collective Ces Filles-Là» Starts 20:30, ends about 22:00. Piers Faccini folk and blues concert, Atelier des arts vivants, Changé

L'Atelier des arts vivants

On Saturday 10 April 2027 at 20:30 the Atelier des arts vivants, at 2 rue des Bordagers in Changé just outside Laval, welcomes the Anglo-Italian singer-songwriter Piers Faccini. The listing describes a magnetic voice and songs in light and shade with a thousand influences: stripped-back acoustic folk or string arrangements, Mississippi blues roots and musical winds from Africa and the Balkans. In twenty-five years he has never locked himself into one style, and his previous album Our Calling, recorded as a duo with Ballaké Sissoko, met Mande blues and British folk halfway. Faultlines, his tenth album, is on the way. Tickets cost from 14 to 20 euros and the lowest price is used here. A singer-songwriter evening in a small seasonal venue is one of the easiest concerts to enjoy on your own, and it lasts about an hour and a quarter. «Piers Faccini» Starts 20:30, ends about 21:45.
