Free dance solo Jardim Atlântico, Pôle Sud, Strasbourg

POLE-SUD, CDCN Strasbourg

On Thursday 4 February at 19:00 the dance centre Pôle Sud in Strasbourg, on rue de Bourgogne, shows a short solo as part of its Travaux Publics series. The dancer and choreographer Calixto Neto, who comes from Olinda in north-east Brazil and has lived in France since 2013, presents Jardim Atlântico, named after the neighbourhood where he grew up. The piece is described as a solo filled with personal memories, archives and traditional dances of the Pernambuco region, and it is also part of a wider collective project in a temporary neighbourhood that welcomes artists from the margins. The page treats the work like a house surrounded by other performances. Entry is free but you need to reserve through the venue's ticket office, and the page is in French. The performance starts at 19:00 and ends at about 19:40, a brief and absorbing evening for one. «Travaux Publics / Calixto Neto - Jardim Atlântico» Starts 19:00, ends about 19:40. Elvis work-in-progress and lip-sync contest, Pôle Sud, Strasbourg

POLE-SUD, CDCN Strasbourg

On Friday 19 February at 19:00 the dance centre Pôle Sud in Strasbourg, on rue de Bourgogne, invites the public to a joyful, popular evening in two parts. Before ending his association with the venue, the choreographer Sylvain Riéjou shows an excerpt from his work in progress, Elvis a quitté le bâtiment, a piece drawing on iconic figures of pop and rock that explores with four performers the links between celebrity, the body and stage practice. He then invites anyone who wants to try their quarter of an hour of fame to take part in a lip-sync contest, in which each person gets the stage for two minutes to mime their favourite song. The listing calls the evening an invitation to share, between creation and collective party. Entry is free on reservation, and the page is in French. It starts at 19:00 and ends at about 20:00. «Sylvain Riéjou - Elvis a quitté le bâtiment (création en cours)» Starts 19:00, ends about 20:00.
