Halloween alone 2026 · Paris

Halloween alone in Paris, and not lonely.

Paris is a city built for one person with an hour to kill, which is exactly what Halloween on your own needs. Late October is dark by early evening, the streets are lit, and being alone here is not a social failure — it is the default.

1. The free walk (0 €, about 90 minutes). Take the quais. The banks of the Seine are open, lit and full at night; walk from the Latin Quarter towards the centre, cross one bridge, come back on the other side. Add a loop through the Marais or along the canal if you want more people-watching. Keep to the main banks after dark, and know your nearest métro before you start.

2. A cultural night indoors (free or a few euros). Paris on 31 October has film screenings, small concerts and late museum slots; the city's open event data reaches our hub, where you can filter it in a minute. Buy one ticket, arrive alone, sit where you like. If you want to spend money on nothing at all, most smaller galleries have free entry — check opening hours, since many close before 20:00.

3. A social format you can walk into alone. The café linguistique is Paris's best solo door: you sit at a table, everyone introduces themselves in two languages, and nobody is a stranger for longer than five minutes. Add pub quizzes as the other half of the plan — French teams are used to one extra chair. To run one yourself, City Quiz is free and works on a phone in a bar.

Staying safe on your own. Tell someone your plan and share your live location. Keep your drink with you, only accept drinks poured in front of you, and don't walk home through quiet side streets just because it looks shorter. First meets stay in public places. The emergency number in France is 112.

Say this to join a group. "Je suis seul(e) ce soir — puis-je m'asseoir avec vous ?" · "I'm here on my own, is there room for one more?" · "What's worth doing after this?" · "Anyone fancy a last drink somewhere nearby?"

Where to go next. Paris has a live city page on Come Alone, the network that lists free and low-cost events in 250+ cities where it is easy to go alone. Open it and pick one thing for Saturday.
