Halloween alone 2026 · Toronto

Halloween alone in Toronto, and not lonely.

Toronto loves Halloween harder than almost anywhere, so on 31 October the streets are full of people in costume who will happily talk to a stranger. Being alone is not a problem — standing still is.

1. The free walk (0 €, about 90 minutes). Two options, both free: the lakefront, where the boardwalk and the water give you a long, lit, wind-swept line to walk; or a street loop through the King/Queen West grid, which is busy until late. Start early enough to see the costumes in daylight, then keep walking while the city turns over. The TTC runs late on a Saturday and takes you home from anywhere on either route.

2. A cultural night indoors (free or a few euros). 31 October brings film nights, small gigs and themed museum programming; the city's open event data lands in our hub, where you can filter Saturday in a minute. Toronto is a solo-friendly audience — one ticket, one seat, and the person next to you in a costume will start the conversation for you.

3. A social format you can walk into alone. Trivia night is Toronto's default ice-breaker: teams actively look for one more player, and hosts often join singles at the bar into a team. Language meet-ups and board-game cafés work the same way. If you want to run the game, City Quiz is free, needs no account, and gives you questions and a scoreboard for a small group.

Staying safe on your own. Share your live location with one person. Keep your drink in hand, never leave it and don't accept drinks you did not watch being poured. Stay in public, lit places; a first meet belongs in a bar or café. Save your route home and the last TTC time before you start drinking. In Canada the emergency number is 911.

Say this to join a group. "I'm here solo — any space on your team?" · "Is this seat taken?" · "What's worth doing after this?" · "I'll get a round if you teach me the rules."

Where to go next. Toronto's city page is being switched on — until then open https://comealone.app/ and pick one thing from the event feed. Come Alone lists free and low-cost events in 250+ cities where going alone is normal.
