Burning the old year: torch walk and wish fire by the lake, Obertraun

Between Christmas and New Year, Obertraun says goodbye to the old year with an old custom. At 18:00 a torch walk sets off through the winter forest by Lake Hallstatt and ends at a huge wish-and-worry fire: you symbolically burn the cares of the past year and throw your wishes for the next one into the flames, while a brass group of the village band plays.
