Klezmer and Creole roots of jazz: free talk at Mériadeck, Bordeaux

Bibliothèque Mériadeck (auditorium)

The Tuesday music mornings at Mériadeck, Bordeaux's big central library, this time trace a historical parallel between klezmer and Creole cultures and what they brought to jazz and modern music, told and played by banjoist Stéphane Borde and singer and clarinettist Armonia Serrano. For adults, free, no reservation, seats while they last; the series is run together with the city's seniors' service, so the room is mixed in age and easy to walk into alone. «Mardis de la musique : Influences klezmer et créole dans la musique jazz et moderne» Starts 10:30, ends about 12:00. Tall Ships Races 2027 departure festival on the Bordeaux quays

Quais de Bordeaux (Garonne riverside)

From 7 to 11 July Bordeaux is the start port of the Tall Ships Races 2027, and some of the largest sailing ships in the world moor along the Garonne quays before racing on to A Coruña and Sines. Paired with the Bordeaux Fête le Vin wine festival, the riverside becomes a big free celebration of maritime heritage and good living, open each day from 11 am. Strolling the quays on Saturday among crews and visitors is an easy, sociable day out on your own. «La Tall Ships Races 2027 - Bordeaux Métropole» Starts 11:00, ends about 23:00. Host a walk & talk

No walk near you? Start one in a minute.

Create a free invite, share the link, and the people who say yes meet you at the start. This is the whole host kit:

  1. One easy meeting point — a station exit, a statue or a park gate anyone can find.
  2. 60–90 minutes, start and end time in the invite.
  3. A loop route so nobody is stranded at the far end.
  4. Finish at a café — the talk often continues sitting down.
  5. Walk at a pace for talking: if someone is out of breath, slow down.
