Torchlight procession and Christmas-tree dive in the lake, Mondsee

Adventmarkt Mondsee (Marktplatz) and the lake bay

One of the odder Advent customs of the Salzkammergut: at six in the evening a torchlight procession with the St. Lorenz wind players leaves the Mondsee Advent market and walks down to the lake bay, where the divers of the water rescue team swim out with torches and sink a lit Christmas tree into the dark water. Friday evening water-ski show on the Mondsee lake promenade

Seepromenade Mondsee (Kaipromenade)

On Friday evenings in July and August the Mondseeland water-ski club puts on its traditional show on the lake right in front of the promenade of Mondsee in the Salzkammergut, and 2 July opens the summer series. Watching is free, with a voluntary donation, and the listing marks it as suitable for people coming alone. Saturday farmers' market on the Marktplatz in Mondsee

Every Saturday morning the stallholders of the MondSeeland set up on the Marktplatz of Mondsee, the lakeside market town in the Salzkammergut, with cheese, fruit and vegetables, lamb and honey, sausages and bacon, bread and cut flowers, all from the region.
