The natural history museum takes walkers into the Citadelle park with naturalist illustrator and photographer Vincent Gavériaux to learn to recognise the plants and animals around them in winter. The walk is free with booking and open from age 7, meeting at the Monument aux Pigeons Voyageurs. Spotting birds together is an easy way to fall into conversation.
A heritage guide leads a two-hour walk through the southern part of central Lille built after the 1858 expansion, including the Porte de Paris, the Maison Coilliot, the public baths and the Jean-Baptiste Lebas park.
